Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme

Examination

The terminal examination takes place in May of 6th year and is 2.5 hours duration. It is divided into three sections:

1. Audio Visual-This is of 30 minutes duration with eight questions to be anserwered on a video clip. (30 marks)

2. Case Study- The case study will be sent to the student approx. 1 month in advance of examination. Three questions to be answered based on the case study. (30 marks)

3. General Questions- There are six questions based on the link modules studied. Four questions to be answered. (100 marks)

Portfolio

The portfolio consists of six items, four core items and two optional items.

Core items (compulsory)

1. Curriculum Vitae
2. Career Investigation
3. Summary Report
4. Enterprise/Action Plan

Optional Items (Any two)

1. Work Experience
2. Enterprise Report
3. Report on ‘My Own Place’
4. Recorder interview/ Presentation

Core Items

1. CV- A word processed document up to two A4 pages in length (25 marks)

2. Career investigation- A word processed document of 300-600 words (40 marks)

3. Summary Report- A word processed document of 300-600 words on any number of LCVP activities (40 marks)

4. Enterprise/ Action plan- A document written in the future tense showing the planning of an activity. (35 marks)

Optional Items

Diary of Work Experience – 7 pages covering the experiences, thoughts and observations of the place and type of work carried out (50 Marks)

Enterprise Report – A word processed document of 1000 – 1500 words. This report will be written in the past tense on the enterprise activity the student undertook as part of the LCVP (50 Marks)

Report of “My Own Place” - A word processed 1000 – 1500 word report on and investigation of my own place (50 Marks)

Recorded Interview/Presentation – Lasting a maximum of 5 minutes of a student being interviewed or making a presentation on some aspect of the Link Modules (50 Marks)


The LCVP will be conducted during a double period or two single periods per week. Students will be grouped for completion of activities and time will be allocated for the writing up of projects and Port folios.

Students must make sure that their portfolios are the own work exclusively.

Portfolios must be completed and submitted to the school at Easter of that Leaving Certificate Year.
